Written in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina on a raw and revelatory text by Eleanor Wilner, Après Moi, le Déluge has been described as “by turns blazingly ardent and softly haunting” by the New York Times, and “sorrowful, deeply political, and aching with universal regret” by Strings Magazine.
A concerto for cello and SATB choir, Après Moi, le Déluge was commissioned by cellist Matt Haimovitz and has been performed more than a dozen times in more that eight cites across the US and Canada. The work was premiered in 2006 by Haimovitz and the University of Wisconsin, Madison, Concert choir, under the direction of Beverly Taylor, and recorded live for Oxingale Records. Matt and the choir later took Après Moi, le Déluge on tour and performed the work in New Orleans November 2006.
This work is recorded on Oxingale Records’ album Après Moi le Déluge.
